Hai Shin Lou, Chinese Vegetarian choices

Hai Shin Lou, known for their fresh seafood and delectable meat also has one of the best Chinese Vegetarian options in Metro Manila. As a regular, here as some of our favorite meatless orders that are just as savory as it’s meaty counterparts.

Appetizer, Fried Tofu Skin that can win over Pork Chicharon! Appetizer, Fried Tofu Skin that can win over Pork Chicharon!

This addicting snack comes free in the table. Light and crispy (not to mention refillable) it’s easy to ruin one’s appetite by over-munching on this crispies (which is exactly what my friend did)

Curious Taro Tofu rolls, the tofu tastes like egg reds and its combination with the Taro makes this a trully nutrient dense and protein rich meal Curious Taro Tofu rolls, the tofu tastes like egg reds and its combination with the Taro makes this a trully nutrient dense and protein rich meal

I salivate every time I remember Gloria Maris’ Taro and Spinach dish so meeting this curious union between Taro and Tofu felt like serendipity.  The tofu especially tasted like egg reds that we wondered what it is marinated on, the taro completed the flavor with its subtle sweet fullness.

Stir fried juicy String beans Stir fried juicy String beans

I normally hate stir fried vegetable because it is usually too oily and sucks out the moisture in the greens but this one was able to retain its juiciness which matched the crunch at every bite.

Spinach Gyoza Mushroom Gyoza with vermicelli. Done just right though I personally prefer thinner wraps! Spinach Gyoza Mushroom Gyoza with vermicelli. Done just right though I personally prefer thinner wraps!

I like my Gyoza done wrong, with skin so thin that it breaks easy- too bad they did theirs perfectly!

Tofu Skin Peking Duck set, lovers of the real thing says it tastes so close to the original its scary! Tofu Skin Peking Duck set, lovers of the real thing says it tastes so close to the original its scary!

Though not a big fan (not even of the meat option when it was still available to me) , my friends tell me that this pork-less version of the Peking wrap tastes so much like the real thing that theyre rather afraid it could be!

Vegetable Yang Chow, could use more vegetable bits and I wish its brown rice but what the heck Vegetable Yang Chow, could use more vegetable bits and I wish its brown rice but what the heck

Would have been a regular in my to eat list if they had used brown rice and more vegetable topping but this vegetable fried rice makes a great compliment to any order

Spinach Mushroom bun, basically whats in the Gyoza but in a Bun Spinach Mushroom bun, basically whats in the Gyoza but in a Bun

What matters in any bun: Well filled and tasty enough to go without the sauce, nailed it!

Mango Lychee Coconut Dessert, non-dairy! Mango Lychee Coconut Dessert, non-dairy!

Ill keep coming back for this happy ending, its not everyday we come across a non-dairy alternative to Mango Sago- using coconut milk instead of cream and adding lychee to balance out the mango’s sweetness is my idea of genius.
