It wasnt the most convenient of days for a roadtrip, but it isnt everyday youre invited to a mushroom farm. So we obliged.

JJ Ortoll, (below) our friend from the local organic market owns the farm (Ministry of Mushrooms) and was kind enough to give us a tour.

JJ really gave us the blow by blow information on how to farm mushrooms. I lost most of the details to thin air but got the gist of how to’s. Donna grasped it more fully as she has always been more inclined to remembering procedures than I.
Culturing mushrooms by the variety
Mushroom is a fungi, Im not confident it actually benefits us as its mostly water and I heard its hard to digest but one thing I know for sure, theyre so damn UMAMI.

We used to grow mushroom in our extra kitchen back then. It wasnt very tedious but it will require space and proper ventilation.
Lime leaves, put in hot water and you’ve got yourself some tea. Put in cold water and youve got yourself an alkaline drink.
There’s mystic sensuality in people who knows how to recognize Mother Nature’s gifts at an age where everything is vacuum packed and advertised.
Recently Ive been attracted to everything raw and natural. Maybe its because Ive had more time to devote having have resigned from my corporate work.

I could live here.
Ill spend my days doing and teaching yoga, eating rawfood, cooking vegan dishes, reading and meditating.
